  1. Whenever my friends ask me to go on a hike with them I would constantly weigh in the pros and cons and end up NOT going in fear of collapsing halfway to our destination. After reading your post, I’m definitely motivated. Any personal recommendations for first timers?

    1. Start with local neighborhood hikes and gradually build up to longer hikes. Make sure you do the same whenever you get new hiking shoes/boots. Don’t wear shoes for the first time on a long hike. And finally, when your friends invite you on a hike, take them up on it. Don’t worry about holding them back. Most friends are understanding if you need to take a few extra breaks. Besides, you’ll probably surprise yourself and do just fine.

We'd love to read your comments, suggestions &/or trail information.
