Caribou Trail

The Caribou Trail is located northwest of Nederland, Colorado. To reach the trail, take highway 72 north out of Nederland. Just past the fire station, turn left onto Caribou Road. Follow the road until it dead ends just past the stone structures beside the road. At this point there are signs for the 4WD roads and with arrows pointing toward Eldora and Rainbow Lakes. In the winter these roads have gates across them, but they are accessible for snowshoe and nordic ski traffic. In the summer, the roads are available for 4WD traffic, hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking.
The nordic skiing has its ups and downs, but is not too difficult.
