Chesapeake & Delaware Canal Trail

Michael Castle Trail is Also Known as Chesapeake & Delaware Canal Trail

Thanks to Trikke rider and trail enthusiast Susan for sending this trail update & accompanying photos to Trailsnet.com:

The C&D Canal Trail is partially open. It is called the Michael Castle Trail, named after a much-loved, former Governor and U.S. Representative.
The Michael N. Castle Trail is paved with asphalt, and is nearly flat.  It runs 6.2 miles (one way) along the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal with beautiful views of the water and several bridges.
There are 2 parking areas:

The St. Georges Trailhead which is about the middle of the paved section, is located UNDER the St. George’s Bridge on Route 13 off Kirkwood St Georges Rd.  If you’re coming from the north:

• right before you cross the bridge, veer right onto Main Street.

• Pass the Commodore Macdonogh Elementary School and then turn right onto Kirkwood St Georges Road

• Make the very first left onto the dirt/gravel driveway and head toward the water.

•  You will see a paved road on your right that leads to the parking area.

The coordinates for St. George’s Trailhead are:
Bathrooms are available at both trailheads.
