Coal Creek Anthem Trail

Colorado Front Range Bike Trail

The Colorado Coal Creek Anthem Trail can be started in Louisville, CO on the Coal Creek Trail. It follows the creek through Lafayette and ends up in Erie, CO. For this particular ride, it branches off to the east and ends up in the Anthem housing development in Broomfield. There is very little shade on this ride, so it is best done in the spring, fall, or early mornings during the summer. Wear lots of sun-screen and bring lots of water.

Bike Suggestions for the Coal Creek Anthem Trail Ride

This 18 mile trail is approximately 70% packed gravel, 15% asphalt (lightly traveled roads), and 15% concrete. So if you are riding it on bicycles, I would suggest:

  • mountain bike would be ideal but shocks aren’t needed.
  • hybrid bike with trail tires would probably work just fine.
  • road bike w/ trail tires would not be ideal but could probably suffice.
