Hall Ranch is a very popular mountain biking destination for residents of Boulder County and surrounding areas such as Lyons, Longmont, Loveland, Lafayette, and Louisville. It is indeed one L of a great mountain bike trail.
Located just off highway 7 (S. St. Vrain Drive), the trailhead is only a few miles northwest of Lyons, Colorado. The trails are fairly challenging to all but the most hearty of mountain bikers. But don’t worry, if you have to get off and walk your bike occasionally, you’re in good company. It’s a pretty common practice among the beginner and intermediate mountain bikers who visit the trail. In addition to the mountain biking trail, there are separate trails for hikers and equestrians. Of course hikers and trail runners can use the bike trail also.
The trail is mostly single-track with a nice loop at the end. As with most trails in this portion of Colorado, it is fairly calm on weekdays and quite busy on weekends and late afternoons/early evenings. Pack your camera and plenty of water, because you’ll be wishing for both if you don’t.
While in the area, stop by Lyons for the coffee, the beer, or antique shopping. It’s a fun little town with interesting shops and eateries.
