Highlands Ranch Trails

Variety of Trail Types

Highlands Ranch is located southwest of Denver, Colorado and has an abundant selection of trails of all types. This review will cover a lasso style trail with a loop trail at the end. It includes some cement trails as well as some mountain bike trails. But none of it is very difficult or technical. The trails that are linked to form this particular ride include the East/West Regional Trail, Spring Gulch Trail, Outlaw Trail, Longhorn Ledge Trail and Cowboy Up Trail as well as a small portion of the Dad Clark Trail.

Most of the trails are located on land owned by the Highlands Ranch Community Association and is beautiful rolling open space with plenty of scrub oak and views of the Foothills and mountains of Colorado. Some of the trail system is dirt single-track, some is concrete sidewalk and the rest is asphalt. The East/West Regional Trail is by far the longest trail in this area and will be featured in its own Trailsnet review at a later date.

Although these trails may be ridden with a sturdy hybrid bike, a mountain bike would be best. As always, pack plenty of water, wear a helmet and carry a spare tire and pump.
