Indian Mesa Trail

bike rider on gravel trail

A wide trail makes for easy biking/hiking.

Indian Mesa Trail is  part of the Rabbit Mountain Trails complex just east of Lyons, Colorado. It’s easy to find just off of highway 66 on the north side of the road. There is a Rabbit Mountain sign visible whether you are driving from Lyons or Longmont.

The Indian Mesa Trail is more of a gravel road than it is a trail, but it is not a road that is open to the public so motor vehicles are extremely rare and drive quite slowly. Indian Mesa is a godsend for those of you who:

  • want to add some more biking to your day after riding the other two trails in the complex (Eagle Wind Trail & Little Thompson Overlook Trail)
  • want to provide an easier option for less experienced mountain bikers or hikers (The other two trails are fairly difficult)

This trail is fairly well marked and leads to a gate that prevents users from going onto private property. This is a nice add-on ride or relaxation ride. See more information about all three trails in the Rabbit Mountain Trails description on trailsnet.
