Oak Leaf Trail

Best Trail in Wisconsin?

Wisconsin is one of the best trail states in the United States, and the Oak Leaf Trail is one of the finest in Wisconsin. This trail has it all: urban hiking, rural bike riding, smooth inline skating and winter cross country skiing. A small portion of the trail is built along the route of Chicago and Northwestern rail line.

Easy Trail Access

With over 20 trailheads and/or access points along the cycleway, you can choose to ride or walk as little or as much of this trail as you’d like. And since the trail is both an urban path and a rural trail, you can choose what type of trail experience you’d like on any given day. You will also find plenty of parking opportunities, restroom facilities and even trail kiosks for refreshments along the way.

Birding Trail

In addition to being a bicycle path, walking trail and inline skating route, this extraordinary Wisconsin trail also serves as one of the best birdwatching paths in the state. Local bird groups even provide bird trail maps to help you find the best birding locations and identify local bird types.
