The “West-Coast”, of the South Island of New-Zealand, is regarded as one of the Wonders of the World, comprising of unsurpassed scenery you will see & experience anywhere on the planet. Regardless of mode, every corner you turn you will be greeted with a sight that will take your breath away.
The area is famous for it’s Fox & Franz-Joseph Glaciers, Pancake Rocks, and Heaphy Track, to name a few but, in recent months, an new addition has been added to the area that, in time, will become as famous. And it’s called – “The West Coast Wilderness Trail”.
As I live out of the country, I have yet to experience this trail first-hand but, as I have hiked, mountain-biked and kayaked throughout this area, I can vouch for what you will experience.
Getting here is easy, there is public transport entering the area from wherever you are. I make two suggestions – don’t be in a hurry and take plenty of pictures. You will love the West Coast Wilderness Trail in New Zealand.
Suggested LodgingAccommodation? Well, whatever your budget, there is something here for you. Whether it's an upmarket hotel/motel, a country pub, a backpackers or just a camping-ground, there are plenty to choose from and are located within easy reach of the trail. Check the attached links.
Like the accommodation, there is sure to be something here to whet-your-appetite and tastes and, again, depending on your budget.
Suggested Bike Rental / Repair
At last look, I counted five bike-shops providing rentals and service. There is also a company that will shuttle you to and from the trail. Again, check-out the attached link.
