This is an epic mountain bike ride. Lots of smooth climbing out of Mayhem Gulch and tons of rolly polly single track along the top of the canyon (Travois trail). The views are awesome. The ride is not overly technical but a great cardio workout if you ride this counter clockwise. There are some blind turns, so be on the lookout for others. I rode this just this past Saturday and there were not alot of people. Its a huge park/loop. This is not for beginners at all unless they are in excellent cardio shape and even then I’d suggest they start elsewhere and work your way up to this one. For those like me who like to climb first and finish on the downhill it is recommended to start at Mayhem Gulch and climb up to Travois trail and make a right and ride this counter clockwise all the way to the upper lot. So much fun on the singletrack, bank turns, dipsy doodles, drops and speed. From the upper lot down the double track jeep road connects to the Juniper Trail back down Mayhen Gulch. This route allows you none stop downhill from the 2nd gate on the jeep road (Elk Range Trail) all the way to the bottom of Mayhem. Spectacular!Trail is closed December through January, and follows an alternate-use schedule on weekends: the fat tire crew takes even-numbered days, hikers get the odds.
