Eagle Wind Trail
Rabbit Mountain Trails provide excellent mountain biking.
Eagle Wind Trail is a loop trail in the Rabbit Mountain Open Space near the Colorado towns of Boulder, Lyons, & Longmont. It is easily accessed off of highway 66 just east of Lyons, CO. It is a moderately difficult trail with the easier Indian Mesa Trail nearby. One of the nice aspects of the Rabbit Mountain Trails is that there are three very different trails all catering to different levels and types of hikers and mountain bikers.
It is also nice to know that, after trying one of the trails, if you still have energy left, you can venture out onto one of the other ones. On my last trip to Rabbit Mountain, I was able to ride all three. This is an eagle nesting area and also home to a few rattlesnakes. Don’t bother them, and they won’t bother you. However, they do enjoy sunning themselves on the trails, so just ride and hike with care.
