The Treasure Loop Trail in Arizona’s Superstition Mountains is truly a treasure chest of desert beauty as it winds its way through cactus gardens and up to the beautiful Flatiron Ridge and Praying Hands rock formation. It is best hiked in a clockwise direction if you prefer gradually going uphill & then coming down a more steep route. If it’s a hot day, and you want to hike a shorter loop, you can also turn off on trail #58 about a third of the way into the first part of the loop. This will allow you to still enjoy a pretty hike without going so far. This shorter loop is about 1.5 miles.
The Treasure Loop Trail is located in the Tonto National Forest near the Phoenix suburb of Gilbert, Arizona. While you’re in the area, you can visit the Goldfield Ghost Town or kayak on the Salt River. Take lots of water on your hike since it is hot & dry in the Lost Dutchman State Park.
You will also find some really nice mountain biking trails in and around the Tonto National Forest and Lost Dutchman State Park. These trails are mostly separate from the hiking trails so both hikers and mountain bikers can enjoy a peaceful yet exhilarating trail experience.

Important: There is a $7 fee to get into this state park.
