Brainard Lake Snowshoe Trail

The snowshoe trail to Brainard Lake is a Goldilocks trail; Not too easy, not too hard. It starts in a spacious parking lot and wanders up and down through a winter wonderland, past a large pond and into a mountainous cirque that contains Brainard Lake, a favorite among local hikers, snowshoers, & nordic skiers. The climbing isn’t too difficult with a little over 760′ elevation gain over a little less than two and a half miles. You will definitely want to come prepared for windy conditions, but don’t let the parking lot/trailhead conditions deter you. It is often windy and seemingly snowless in the main parking lot, but once you get into the trees, the wind dies down and there is usually an abundance of snow.
